Website SEO Checklist: 10 Essentials for Hong Kong SMEs

A finished website is not automatically easy for Google to understand. Use this checklist to build a search-ready foundation before launch.

1. Give every page a unique title and description

Titles should state the page topic. Descriptions should explain the value and next step. Do not reuse homepage copy across service and article pages.

2. Keep one H1 per page

Use the H1 for the page topic and H2s for subtopics. Do not repeat keywords unnaturally.

3. Use short, readable URLs

Choose descriptive hyphenated slugs and avoid IDs, dates, or meaningless parameters.

4. Set up sitemap, robots, and canonicals

Make sure search engines can find the pages you want indexed and understand language variants and duplicates.

5. Write useful image alt text

Alt text should help people using assistive technology and describe the image naturally. Never stuff keywords.

6. Check mobile speed and Core Web Vitals

Compress images, reduce unnecessary JavaScript, and test key pages on real devices.

7. Answer real customer questions

Pages should clearly explain price, process, delivery timing, ownership, and ongoing maintenance where relevant.

8. Add relevant internal links

Link articles to services, pricing, and the Start journey with descriptive anchor text instead of “click here.”

9. Keep structured data honest

Only mark up organizations, services, articles, or FAQs that are visibly present on the page. Validate the result before publishing.

10. Connect Search Console and conversion tracking

Submit the sitemap and measure impressions, clicks, consultation starts, preview generation, and captured leads.
